The Shenandoah University Division of Physician Assistant Studies welcomes you to the Preceptor Web page. We hope you find the information helpful and encourage you to contact us with any questions you may have regarding your precepting of students.

Shenandoah University’s Division of Physician Assistant Studies is a 30-month program consisting of 18 months of didactic instruction and 12 months of clinical rotations. Students will rotate through three 5-week rotations in Primary Care, and 5-week rotations in  Emergency Medicine, Surgery, and Inpatient Care. In addition they will have a 4-week rotation in Primary Care during the didactic portion of their education and one 5-week rotation in an elective of their choosing.  At the end of the clinical year, they will participate in a 8-week Community Preceptorship .We hope you will consider precepting students in your practice for their clinical rotations component.

We understand that the commitment takes time.  Our office is ready to assist you in preparing for, working with and evaluating students.

Our Medical Director is Dr. Philip O'Donnell of Selma Medical Associates in Winchester, VA. He is an  enthusiastic supporter of our program and available to be a liaison for the medical community.
