Admissions

The admission information provides both potential and matriculated student with details about the educational program leading to a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. It should be viewed as an adjunct to Shenandoah University’s Graduate Catalog and the Shenandoah University Physician Assistant Program Student Handbook, which contain specific information regarding the university and related policies. The information herein is subject to periodic revision and these changes will be relayed to candidate and students in a timely manner. It is ultimately the student’s responsibility to be aware of all degree requirements and to work closely with an advisor to ensure that these requirements are fulfilled.  

A Distance Campus Application for Northern Virginia Campus – Scholar Plaza (Loudoun County) has been submitted to ARC-PA.  A decision will be made by the ARC-PA on their March 2015 agenda.  Pending approval a cohort of 12 students will be accepted to matriculate in July 2015.  

All applicants will apply to Shenandoah University and will be interviewed and accepted according to the the admissions process documented in the Application Process 2015.  Once candidates receive an acceptance offer, a supplemental form will be sent with the acceptance letter.  The form will give them the opportunity to choose their preference for the Winchester Campus, Northern Virginia Campus at Scholar Plaza, or No Preference.  The form will also require a signature acknowledging that campus assignments are 1) at the discretion of the Shenandoah University Physician Assistant Program; and 2) student must attend classes at his/her assigned campus. If the applicant accepts our offer, they would return the signed form with their deposit. 

For the inaugural year (starting July 6, 2015), only 42 tuition deposits for seats will be accepted prior to March 31, 2015.  Upon approval of ARC-PA for the campus expansion, we will offer acceptance to candidates on our wait list until 12 more deposits are received.  Based on the campus preference returned to us with the deposit, we will then assign a campus for each deposit received.  The preferences will be taken in the order of the date the deposit was received by Shenandoah University.  The Admissions Committee will make verbal contact with each applicant to be sure the campus assignment is understood. All campus assignments are to be completed by April 30, 2015. If more candidates are selected from the waitlist after April 30, the campus assignment will be based on seat availability at that location.
